Maurtia Falls Endeavor Center

ABOUT & HISTORY
The idea for the MFEC was first suggested by then-Ambassador Petyr Baelish and Haen Hithiel in July 2017, with the intent to renovate a downtown building for a city-wide youth initiative that encompassed both sports and arts. The target age group is 5-18 years old for most activities.

The aim of the proposal was to strengthen the youth community in Maurtia Falls, as it was felt that the criminal overtones in the city too often lured teens into questionable activity, by providing activities and associated services to them that would keep them out of trouble. The Center's official slogan is Our Future is in Their Hands.

The first announcement of the Endavour Center was made in September 2017, with an opening originally set for January 2018. However due to a botanical invasion that affected the city, the grand opening was delayed for a month, and instead chose to host the February 2018 Swear-In Ceremony with a Valentine's Day themed event.
OFFERED PROGRAMS & SERVICES
The Endeavor Center offers many different types of youth-focused arts programs, sports and intramural teams, and a variety of coached and guided activities for those of all ages. Although the Center is geared toward the pre-teen and teenage age group, anyone is welcome to use the facilities.

SPORTS & INTRAMURAL
The intramural sports hosted at the EC have an emphasis placed on teamwork over purely athletic skill, and all teams are co-ed and divided into age groups. Dodgeball, kickball, volleyball and floor hockey are the biggest sports at the EC - partly because they have no desire to "compete" with school teams on sports like basketball and football (although there are facilities for these, for practice) - and again, the high emphasis on the teamwork aspect of these sports. In addition to the teams themselves, the EC also offers general fitness activities for those who want to be active but aren't ready to join an actual team yet.

CREATIVE ARTS
The EC offers several arts programs, including drawing/painting, sculpting, and papercraft arts. There are no prerequisite skills required to join in with any of these, and there are absolute beginners all the way up to semi-professional artists who sit in for sessions. The materials for all of the above are provided through the Center's funding, although people are welcome to bring their own tools if they have them.

THEATER AND DRAMA
The theater troupe is divided into two sections: an all-ages group, and a 15+ age group for more serious undertakings. The Center has two auditoriums, allowing for more than one practice to be done at a time. If being on stage isn't a person's cup of tea, there are plenty of roles that can be filled with stage management, costuming, audio and lighting, backdrops, and general assistant roles to take on. The focus is on the collaborative effort, not just the final product!

COMMUNITY GARDENS
This is open to everyone in the community, not just to those who attend the EC's programs! Two sections, one for vegetable growing and harvesting, and another for flower cultivation, give people the opportunity to mingle with others. Volunteers can also learn about agricultural differences in different imPort worlds.

SOCIAL AND CIVIC SERVICES
In addition to the fun activities, the EC has also brought on volunteers for counseling and social assistance programs, guaranteeing 100% confidentiality. This is aimed primarily at teens, especially those who might be struggling with temptations to get into criminal activities, something of higher than average probability in Maurtia Falls.

Character Name: Tina Belcher
What programs are they offering to help out with?: Gardening, and if possible she'll also offer cooking lessons/feed hungry kids
How often will they be there?: 2 or 3 days a week after school and weekend afternoons
Any notes?: Tina is nearly 14, so any age-appropriate stuff she can help with, she'll throw herself into. One of her powers makes her an excellent cook whose dishes always turn out well if she follows a recipe.

Character Name: Jonathan Walsh
What programs are they offering to help out with?: Science (with cool demonstrations!)
How often will they be there?: About once a week
Any notes?: He won't start until after he goes there for the first time to do a presentation on his home planet. Then he'll decide the place is pretty cool and start coming by more often.
